Launching my Career and Embracing Growth with FDm
Embarking on the journey of my first job was a significant milestone carrying with it a blend of anticipation, excitement and a touch of apprehension. I was lucky enough to have gone on this journey with Fractal Dataminds. They have provided me with a launchpad for my career and invaluable professional experience. From day one, I was immersed in a culture of continuous learning and collaboration in an environment where every challenge is presented as an opportunity to grow and excel.
From abstract concepts to real-world application: Being a university student has exposed me to a lot of information related to programming and software development and I have been introduced to the theoretical ideas behind building a product. Being part of a company and a software development team, I get to apply those very abstract concepts to very real scenarios. I’ve participated in every stage of product development, from ideation and gathering requirements, to software development as well as deployment and getting feedback on these projects. This bridge between theoretical knowledge and practical application has allowed me to witness firsthand how to convert fundamental knowledge into tangible solutions.
Building efficiency through good practices: Further, FDm’s commitment to making the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) a scientific process has solidified good programming principles and product development practices for me. The emphasis given to Test Driven Development (TDD) and clean coding has made me a more efficient and aware programmer. Looking back at my old code, I realized that my lack of planning before implementing my code meant that I wasn’t creating the most optimal code. With the planning skills I have picked up while working on projects at FDm, I am confidently able to produce optimal code in a wide range of scenarios.
Exploration through being a generalist: I was most happy with the flexibility and freedom I have working at FDm. One of the underlying philosophies here is that the collaborators are Generalists at heart. This means that I have been exposed to a wide range of skills and that I have been given opportunities to discover and explore my own skills. While working on implementations and moonshots with FDm, I got to explore the utilization of Machine Learning Models, Bayesian inference, and different testing methodologies while gaining access to a community with an impressive range of domain expertise.
Unlocking future potential: Looking ahead, my time at Fractal Dataminds has ignited an interest in me to strive for continuous growth and improvement. As I continue my journey at FDm, I am inspired to pursue new knowledge and skills in the constantly evolving field of software development and decision making. Additionally, I am eager to explore opportunities for leadership and mentorship to develop a holistic experience in the realm of project development and management.
I am grateful to all the wonderful collaborators at FDm, the Fractalizers, for this incredible opportunity!
