Why did I join FDm?

Working with start-ups has always been enthralling for me and what I look forward to always. Fairly late post though, I am excited to have joined Fractal Dataminds (FDm) last year. I’ve tried here to list the motivation and the rationale behind joining the new role:

Nothing less than pure SDLC: I’ve learnt to appreciate the power and value a well crafted SDLC process brings, and I want my work to be governed by good SDLC practices and actively resist temptations to rush into deceptively ‘simple’ non-standard methods.

Test-Driven Development: Unfortunately in practice, writing test-cases is forsaken in the development heat, which leads to a lot of uncertainty during deployment and feature update. I’ve learnt the importance of testing and it’s fully ingrained in Fractal Dataminds (FDm) work culture.

Learning planning a project:  I would be interested in learning more about how to plan a project from scratch. Along with that, I am interested in learning to dig into the right granularities and ask the right questions to the various stake holder personas. This would help me take project controller roles in future engagements.

Learning efficient problem solving techniques: I would like to be hands-on with thinking through and solving not-so-straightforward problems in any domain. Some of them with the following skill-set:

  • Probabilistic programming and Bayesian Inference
  • MLOps in data science
  • Data Engineering and DevOps
  • Research projects in NLP with Deep Learning
